I have so much fun slaying dragons recently that I just gotta blog about it. I haven't had that much fun with dragons in a long time.

Baldur's Gate II: Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of AmnBaldur's Gate II: Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of AmnFirst thing first, there are 5 dragons at least in Baldur's Gate II: SOA and TOB. Since I'm playing a good aligned character, I don't want to kill the Silver Dragon (who is good).

Next, I'm playing a solo sorceress with Kivan (elven archer) in my game. I just love the Kivan mod, it is so beautifully written. I usually, just have Kivan standing far away behind when my elven sorceress goes into dragons-slaying mode. I wouldn't want Kivan to die on me, now wouldn't I...

In order to kill a dragon, my sorceress starts by summoning about three skeleton warriors and one invisible sword. Later when I get summon planatar, I replace skeleton with planetars. Skeletons have good magical resistance and since they are undead, they do not fear or panic - which is really good against dragons.

Now I move with my horde and engaged the dragon with a Lower Resistance spell, which can lower the dragon's innate magic resistance to about 30%. If I need to, I fire my sequencer on it, which has Greater Malison, and some Breach spells. If not, I just cast them from memory. After about two or three Lower Resistance and Greater Malison, its time to cast Finger of Death (FOD) or Disintegrate. FOD is a better option since I do want to loot the dragon afterall. IIRC Disintegration also destroys any loot I may get but I'm not sure about this anymore.

Hehe, I then just watch the dragon fails its saving throws and die. lol. Or if that fails, then I cast some more Greater Mallison to lower the dragon's saving throws. Yup, that's about it.

Usually, if my horde of summons keep the dragon busy, I won't even lose a single HP. Now, I'm on a roll. Next dragon in line!
