New Hairstyle

Well, I finally did it and I've been wanting to change my hairstyle for a long time. I've wore my hair straight almost all my life, and last saturday, I went for a perm. Having my hair permed two other times in my life, both which produced hideous results, I wasn't really keen on trying out another perm but I'm really tired and recently, I had been feeling a little depressed. So, I thought, a new hairdo, might cheer me up...

I went to the hairstylist and ask for a wavy perm, that should gives my hair subtle wave and add volume to my hairstyle. However, I was told that because I have fine hair, my hair cannot hold the weight of such a perm. He recommended something more curly which really scared me off. The picture he showed me had a girl with long, curly hair. Frankly, it doesn't look bad on the girl but I was convinced that I would look like having a constant bad hair day if I adopt that style.

But the hairstylish insists that I give it a try, saying my hair texture would suit only such a perm and that the results won't even be as curly as the one in the picture. I guess, I must be feeling very brave or bored that day because I actually agreed. I still can't believe I did it. :D

After 4 hours of sitting in the hair salon, I was just about to snap when the stylist told me I'm done. All this while, I was convinced I'm going to end up looking like a major disaster but in the end, it really wasn't that bad.

I had less waves that I saw in the picture, and because the stylist left my bangs straight, I didn't look like a mess of curved macoronis. It really wasn't that bad at all. Then, there was the question of how to maintain the hairstyle, especially for someone like me who can't even use a hairdryer properly.

I was really thrilled when the stylist told me I don't need a hair dryer, and I could even get away with just dumping gel on my hair and squeezed a mess. Hah, it was almost too good to be true.

Two days after the perm, I returned to work and my colleagues didn't miss my new hairstyle at all. I get the lukewarm 'nice' comments and one or two outburst "Gods, what did you do to your hair?" comments. Two of my colleagues kept teasing me about how I suddenly developed a sense of maturity, femininess and 'sexiness' in their words, which I wasted no time using some well-chosen sharp words to remind them, that I am still capable of scolding the crap out of them. Hehe.

I think, I'm going to enjoy this hairdo for a while longer, hopefully, I do get used to it.
